Making Sense was a project that run for two years between 2015 and 2017, aimed to explore how open source software, open source hardware, digital maker practices and open design could be effectively used by local communities to fabricate their own sensing tools, make sense of their environments and address pressing environmental problems in air, water, soil and sound pollution.
The project conducted several diverse campaigns in Barcelona, Kosovo and Amsterdam, from which the one in Barcelona led into very relevant results for the citizen community. The project provided support for conducting citizen science actions to map and understand the noise pollution in one of the busiest neighbourhoods of the city.
